Photos by Bryce Carrington and Genevieve Diaz

(Un)Knowing

The Micro Gallery at VSCO HQ is an exhibition space that showcases photography and art by VSCO creators. In August 2019, we featured work by local Oakland artists Bryce Carrington and Genevieve Diaz. I worked closely with Bryce and Genevieve to uncover parallels between their stories, which informed the the exhibition’s concept, narrative, and naming. Promoted across our social channels, the exhibition attracted over 300 attendees on opening night.

Exhibition Summary

What might we find if we let go of control and open ourselves to the unknown?

Shot at VSCO’s Open Studio, the work featured in this exhibition represents faith in the uncertain — a trust in process, in inquiry, in stranger, in self, and in the marriage of structure and spontaneity.

Mirroring the fluidity of their creative processes, local artists Bryce Carrington and Genevieve Diaz beckon us into an honest world where identity moves through space unfixed, expanding beyond the limits of labels into the warmth of living through truth.
